This insert works ok but it does flex. If you are at the end of a board and cutting say a rabbet (where you don't cut all the way through the board) and you don't have the table on both sides of the insert to support the board when you press down the insert will deflect down and cause you to cut alittle deeper. Other than that it works ok.
I dunno what the complainers are griping about. When installed and adjusted properly, the insert does exactly what it's supposed to do, namely minimizing tearout and stopping thin trimmings dropping down into the motor works.
After having problems from plywood veneers "chipping" @ the cut edge, purchased this unit - it solved the problem.
This was a waste of money. The plastic it's made from is cheap and flimsy. If you put any downward pressure on your material as you push it through the saw the insert deflects and your material gets caught on the lip between the table and the insert. Threw it right in the garbage and made my own from Baltic birch plywood.
This zero clearance insert works fine. Earlier reviews said it was cheap and flimsey but it seems to do the job for me. I think some people get so obsessed with ultimate perfection that they loose site of the overall picture.
